John Maxton has a Bachelor of Science Degree in both Psychology and Health Education from West Chester University.

John has worked in the drug and alcohol field for over 25 years where he has had direct experience with a variety of levels of care. These levels range from crisis centers, non-hospital detoxification, prevention services, outpatient and partial hospital programs.

John was selected as 1of 7 statewide drug and alcohol treatment specialist comprising a multi-disciplinary task force that was formed by the PA Department of Health. Their mission was to review and revise the Commonwealth's Health Plan and the department's position on chemical dependency.

John has also served as advisor and chairman on special statewide committees, organizations and task forces that have helped shape the treatment of addiction in Pennsylvania. Truly he is a leader and innovator in the field. It is from this passion that John has molded the vision and mission for New Insights since its inception in March of 1986.
