Women’s Chemical Dependency Recovery Group

The goals of this group include:
- Learn the disease nature of addiction and apply that to recovery
- Implement and maintain involvement in Alcoholics Anonymous / Narcotics Anonymous and/or other appropriate recovery programs and support groups
- Practice relinquishing destructive thoughts, defenses and behaviors
- Utilize group support to implement positive changes
- Achieve self-empowerment by learning clear communication, truth telling, assertiveness and healthy boundaries
The Women’s Chemical Dependency Group at New Insights is a traditional therapy group that may also offer:
- Mindful meditation
- Stress reduction and grounding techniques
- Creative visualization
- Various appropriate creative tasks such as art therapy and writing
About the facilitator:
Adele Johansson, MA, LPC, CACD, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Addiction Counselor, Diplomate. An addiction therapist and group facilitator since 1990, Adele, specializes in women’s recovery issues ranging from co-dependency and eating disorders to domestic violence and post traumatic stress. She also holds a Masters Degree in Art Therapy from Ursuline College.
